I am a freelance architectural designer, not quite an artist, and sometimes an educator. I accept commissions, work with private clients, and consult with small architecture firms. I approach architecture and design as a cultural art form. My work is made with humour, maddening empathy, and absurdly careful detail. This is not the norm nowadays, and it isn't easy... it is my belief that nothing worthwhile ever is.

I prioritize care over profit;
I do not have a set formula for delivering projects. I will provide a custom-tailored proposal based on your unique desires and needs.
I spent more than a decade as a nomad searching for meaning and purpose in the world of design. Did I find it?
I was indentured to architects in Copenhagen and Berlin. I spent years in downtown Los Angeles. I earned my Masters of Architecture from SCI-Arc, which is widely considered the best school of architecture (This statement is contentious for at least two reasons: every school of architecture believes it is the best, and those architects that live within boxes, and litter our Earth with boxes think it is bad).
SCI-Arc gave me many gifts. One was the Henry Adams Medal (from the American Institute of Architects) recognizing me as the overall best-ranked student of my graduating class. It gave me Thom Mayne and Eui Sung Yi of Morphosis as design-studio instructors and Andrew Zago as an adviser to my graduate thesis. There were so many more amazing teachers/mentors. I am truly grateful to all of them.
Eric Owen Moss' office poached me straight out of grad school. I worked closely with his design directors (veterans of many challenging and eccentric building projects) on the acclaimed experimental restaurant Vespertine.
I came back to my place of origin - Calgary Canada - to oversee the construction of some modest, but nice architectural works. This is where I currently practice and teach. Some of my professional work is done under the moniker Aitch (H).
My credentials include a Bachelor of Environmental Design from UBC, a Cabinet Maker's Certificate from SAIT, and of course my Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc.
